The Church of San Nicola di Bari

It was built according to the wish of the prince Nicola Pallavicini, after the year 1750, following the design of Carlandi, who directed also the construction works. After the death of the prince, the works continued very slowly and they were ended only thanks to the contribution of the Duke of York and the princess Caffarelli.

The baroque façade is concave and the tympanum is surmounted by an iron cross over three sections. In the interior there is a chapel with an icon of the Saviour very venerated and a great valve of shell used as spout coming from Chiesa Vecchia. In the centre of the apse there is a polychrome altar consecrated to San Nicola di Bari and San Filippo Benizi. The painting by the artist Carlo Ciappini over the altar represents these two saints with the Madonna and the Bambino in 1759.
