The Church of San Rocco
In this church there is the miraculous icon of the Vergine del Soccorso. In a previously period this icon was venerated in an aedicule near the place where it was decided to build the church to preserve the icon. The construction's age of the church is uncertain; E. della Volpaia did not represent it in his plan of the area realized in 1547.
Initially the church was given to two hermits, fra Mario Rufo coming from S. Agostino in Rome and P. Michele Montagna and later to a chaplain.
In 17th century according to the wish of the prince Nicola Ludovisi, the church was restored; these restoring works began in 1664 and in 1665 the church was consecrated to San Rocco. This church has a rectangular plan (12,19 metres x 6,90 metres) and three altars: the high altar consecrated to the Virgin and the other two to San Rocco and San Sebastiano patrons of the persons suffering from the Plague.
